1° L LELE autobiography

Homework for Monday 6th November                                    1°L LELE

Your task: Write an extract from your own « autobiography »

Choose a specific event or episode that you remember, a memory from your childhood, for example it can be a very embarrassing episode, a funny, joyful or sad moment … but it must be described as a special moment, something that tells a little bit about yourself.
You should:
-write in the first person and in the past tense
-include details about the setting (time, place, people …)
-include at least one dialogue
-describe your feelings, emotions
-find your own “I” or “eye” to tell the story
Don’t forget that the story will sound more “realistic” if you are telling the truth, or maybe "your truth".

Advice: before you start, ask yourself the following questions:
How do I look back on that moment? Why was it special? Why do I remember it? What does it tell about me? Why do I want to share it or to write about it?
It may help you find your own “voice”.
                                                                                Have a nice holiday

Harry Potter: How the boy wizard enchanted the world

What JK Rowling said about first Harry Potter book in 1997

Can you believe it's 20 years since the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone?

Joanne Rowling, as she was known then, dreamed up the story of the bespectacled boy wizard on a train trip between London and Manchester.
She finished the manuscript in 1995, writing much of it in cafes in Edinburgh while her baby from her first marriage slept in a pram.
After many rejections, the manuscript was eventually picked up by Bloomsbury. The first hardback print run, which came out on 26 June 1997, was just 500 copies.
Then something magic happened. That first book - and the six that followed - went on to sell more than 450 million copies around the world.
It got kids (and adults) reading  ...
It also got people writing  ...
It spawned one of the world's biggest film franchises  ...
